Foster Parenting

Foster parenting a child in need is a vital link in stopping child abuse. It is an important and rewarding contribution.

As foster parents, you have the opportunity to show a foster child how your family works and plays, share your family values and traditions, and fully accept a child into your home.

There are approximately 98,000 children in Foster Care in California; the average age is 8.5 years old. These children, who are unable to remain with their birth families until problems are resolved, need kindness, nurturing and guidance.

Youth and Family Programs is licensed by the California Department of Social Services/Community Care Licensing to certify homes for foster care.

Youth & Family Programs is dedicated to working as a team with foster parents and birth families, relatives, friends and teachers, and any other participants to achieve permanence for every child. We always have staff available to answer questions regarding foster parenting.

Some aspects of our program are:

  • Accept families in Butte, Shasta & Tehama Counties
  • Foster Parent Training
  • Financial Reimbursement
  • Family Activities
  • Birth Family Support
  • A supportive community of people involved in foster care
  • Mentoring

There are many ways you can help children placed into foster care. If becoming a foster parent is not right for you, please consider helping through Donations.

We are proud of the art that decorates our walls.
